jaguar-c-x75Jaguar C-X75: The Future Is Here-The Jaguar C-X75 is a hybrid concept car produced in partnership with the Williams Formula 1 Team. The concept behind the name is this. C stands for Concept, X stands for Experimental, and 75 is a tribute to the 75th anniversary of Jaguar.

The car made its debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. It is, according to Jaguar, "a concept that pushes the boundaries of both design and sustainability".

This is a supercar in every sense of the word. It is a 2 seater, with its chassis made up of lightweight aluminum, which creates weight savings and improves performance. The C-X75's design, which found inspiration on past Jaguar legends such as the D-Type and the XJ13, preaches the concept of "function defines form", as aerodynamic performance dictated every aspect of its exterior design. As part of its aerodynamic structure, an underbody venturi and directional exhaust gas control is used.

However, what makes this car unique, and ultimately what separates it from other supercars, is that the C-X75, as mentioned earlier, is a hybrid. Power comes from 4 electric motors that each produces 195 horsepower, combining to produce a staggering 780 horsepower and a humongous torque of 1600 Newton meters. Coupled with a micro gas turbine that can run on a variety of fuel such as diesel, natural gas, and biofuels, it extends the range of the C-X75 to 550 miles.

This translates into a zero to 60 acceleration time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of approximately 200 plus mph, numbers which are enough to put this car on the supercar elite. But it doesn't end there. This will be a car with very low emissions, as it is expected to produce only 99 grams per kilometer of carbon dioxide. The electric motors are charged either by plugging it into an external power source, or through the action of its gas-powered engine.

While this car speaks for itself Jaguar's core values of design, performance, and luxury, the materials used for the cars are selected with social responsibility in mind. The car is composed of 50% recycled aluminum, and the leather used for the interior is sourced from the Bridge of Weir in Scotland, one of the world's most environmentally efficient leather producers.

When the Jaguar C-X75 was released in 2010, it received huge acclaim from all corners of the motoring industry. Automotive journalists agree that this car is one for the ages. Its design is critically acclaimed as a modern classic, its performance is deemed as superlative, and its technology, particularly its hybrid technology, is an innovation ahead of its time. To sum it all up, it just might be the car of the future.

The Jaguar C-X75 is definitely a legitimate supercar, made much more special by the use of hybrid technology. Scheduled for release in 2013, this car is going to be had by a very exclusive few. 250 cars would be produced at most with a price tag coming between 1.15 and 1.40 million dollars. Those that would be able to own one would be part of an exclusive company, as this car is seemingly destined to make automotive history.
