red-wheego-electricThe Wheego Electric Car. Finally, there's one more EV ready to launch a new way to propel ourselves through our daily lives in a cleaner, greener manner. Not Just Clean and Green; Safe, Reliable, their Fun! Okay all you green-hearted planet protectors; there's another EV ready to launch. It's a solution we can rally behind.

Thanks to those of you who un-dauntingly supported the roll out of the few EV models available and the many of us who are still waiting for the many automotive manufacturers to keep their promises. We finely have a promise to hang our hat on.

It is really up to us to show the larger American community the value of these amazing new electric vehicles. The Whip Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) and the LiFe Electric Vehicle (LEV) are absolutely ready to roll. Not only ready to roll, but positioned to make an effective wave through the community of folks paying close attention to solutions to our economic and energy crisis.

We invite you to help us do this. Energy crisis can be a problem of the past if enough of us work to inform our communities of the real solutions already available. And it can be done with levity and perhaps just a bit of pure, pleasurable fun. The new little Wheego EVs first became available in 2009. Beginning as the E-Noble, it was an alternative to the Smart Fortwo.

First Test Drive of Whip

I first test drove the Whip in South Florida. A perfect setting for this niche electric car.

Wheego-Whip-EVWheego NEV is a two-seat vehicle. This NEV is limited to roads with posted speeds of 25 mph. Living in a state allowing MSEV (Medium Speed Electric Vehicles) your Wheego Whip's speed can be increases to 35 mph. The Whip's range is 50 miles and is capable of speeds up to 60 mph. This car, specifically designed for close-to-home daily errand travel (ergo, NEV) is specially equipped for safety, fun and reliable low-speed vehicle (LSV) travel.

The Department of Motor Vehicles has already approved the all-electric Wheego Whip car as a fully certified LSV. It includes a steel frame, metal doors, eager power windows, seat restraints, special safety-glass windshields and radial tires.

Air conditioning is optional. Questions remain about speed and performance while using the air conditioning.

Just imagine cruising silently through your neighborhood, creeping stealthily to your neighbor hood grocery store. Or perhaps quietly cruising the dawn hours, up to the park for your favorite run. These stealthily silent cars create new ideas and potentials for how they can be used. A silent car on a rural back road will be privileged to see far more wildlife than anyone else.

Like most electric cars, the Wheego electric vehicle looks and feels like a standard internal combustion gas-powered car. The profound exception is its stealth capacity. No noise, no emissions, no gas, no oil. Freedom! Can you imagine a world where cars are silent? Have you been missing that neighborhood bird song?

The new Wheego Whip car has full acceleration capacity for all neighborhood traffic. Steep inclines on bridges that cross south Florida inter-coastal water ways had a negligible effect on its speed and climbing performance.

Wheego's Design

Wheego's design gives a feeling of having integrated the very best of car design and styling from the previous decades of car performance, comfort and appeal. They own what some taut as an extremely satisfying European-exterior. Okay, maybe it looks similar to the Smart Fortwo, but hey, at least I said it. The car has a plug in aspect easily located where the gas cap ought to be. Simple, easy, the process is just plugging it in. Far more aesthetically pleasing than the smell and danger of chemicals during the gas-up of normal cars.

The batteries store 96 volts. These volts surge through 12 units. It gives the motor 40hp. This is only one less horse power than powering the 2011 smart EV. Standard charging time from dead to "whip" is just about 8 hours. Battery life is around eight years. The NEV LSV all-electric vehicle has GM lead-acid sealed batteries. AGM batteries are flooded lead acid batteries, except the electrolyte is held in glass mats, as opposed to freely flooding the plates.

The interior of these totally "cute lil'cars," is offset by three-way adjustable seats, covered by inspiringly interesting honeycomb web-like fabric. Some claim the dash feels like a mini-cooper. Kudos' have been given for the stereo system and speakers. Stash a dozen bottles of health-infusion potions and clean mineral spring water in the abundantly compartment-rich interior storage.

You can get a one-year service warranty with two-year warranties on all parts. This is a better deal than the Toyota Prius, actually. With those vehicles, you end up paying more than expected on gas, with really high prices on replacement parts and bi-annual services that are required.
