Future of Personal Transportation

personalevSo what's New? Governments worldwide, including ours; auto manufacturers from Detroit to China and Israel; and more and more people every day are convinced a revolution in driving is occurring. You don't have to be a "green" enthusiastic bent on saving the environment from global warming to be interested in the wave of new electric cars, hybrids and "smart and clever cars" rolling off assembly lines in greater numbers each day.

Car manufactures' like Ford, Nissan, Chevrolet and others are doing their part to make this a greener planet.

Although it's patriotic to diminish our dependency on foreign oil, the most compelling reason for switching to smarter vehicles is the huge savings they achieve. As one new owner of an electric said about his decision, "It's the economy, stupid." (Click on Savings above)

Filling station "chains" are thinking how they might be among the first to provide a battery-recharging service coast-to-coast. Parts and Service Departments have been preparing to accommodate the new breed of vehicles. Accessory and parts manufacturers and other providers are gearing up.

"The day of the 'gas guzzler' is slowly but surely fading into the past." – Mr. Obvious are you finally convinced?

As people begin to learn more about the benefits of non-gasoline transportation, demand is gradually increasing, and American automakers are scrambling to shift paradigms and stay abreast of the transition.

We just saw the President of the United States visiting the new Chevy Volt Electric Car Plant in Michigan. The media celebrates the coming of this new breed of vehicles in depth. There might be a mere trickle of electric cars coming off the line today, but this is an exciting new industry destined to create more jobs every day and new opportunities for entrepreneurs.

How feasible is it to operate an electric car, truck, cycle or boat today? Although the range for most-electric cars is currently limited, improvements are extending that range steadily. And emerging concepts, such as networks of battery-switching stations, will soon be implemented. Owners are also carrying several charged batteries to extend their reach, and home garages are being wired to facilitate fast, economical re-charging.

How momentous is this switch to an alternative power source for America? Remember when Toyota sold fewer total vehicles than Chevrolet's Chevette alone? Who would have believed what has occurred since?

Well, that change was minor in comparison to what we're about to witness in the transition to electric powered vehicles.
