Reva Electric Car Company
The Company has already produced many cars since it was founded 1994. In 2001, the company began marketing and production of the REVAi, an electric mini car meant to accommodate two adults and two children. The REVAi is powered by lead acid batteries and can reach a top speed of 50 mph. It can also travel 50 miles per charge. An alternative version of the REVAi is the REVA L-ion. This version runs on lithium ion batteries and can travel 75 miles per charge. In 2005, the REVA-NXG, a two seat concept sports car that can reach top speeds of 75 mph and travel up to 124 miles per charge, was released. Sometime this year the REVA NXR is planned to be released and is expected to reach top speeds of 65mph and travel up to 99 miles. Finally, the REVA NXG is scheduled for a 2012 release and expected to outperform the previous vehicles.
Although the REVA Electric Car Company has created innovative cars and technology, the future of the company is unclear. A new assembly plant in Bangalore started operations and is capable of producing 30,000 electric vehicles. However, does the company have what it takes to gain worldwide appeal? Many people still consider electric cars slow, bulky and inconvenient. In addition, the company has been operating with a lack of infrastructure for years. |
