Miles Electric Vehicles-LSV-Next Generation

Recently, Miles Electric Vehicles won the "Electric Car Company of 2007" award by Good Clean Tech for outstanding conceptualization and performance of their products. Based on Los Angeles, California, and with several facilities all throughout the United States, the company became prominent back in 2005 when it introduced the street-legal Chinese ZX40 automobile into the United States.

The concept is based on a steel unibody chassis, and has the distinction of becoming the first ever crash-tested NEV's to achieve nationalized compliance from different government agencies that included the Department of Transportation, the California Air Resources Board and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Currently, the Miles product line includes the low-speed electric vehicles that made good on its promise of absolutely zero tailpipe emissions and low operating costs. It really fits the idea of "greening" the fleets all over nationwide. The company offerings of the ZX40 and its other equally great variants the ZX40S, the ZX40S Advanced Design, and the ZX40ST electric truck are primarily designed for fleet use at low speeds. NASA, other educational institutions and even the U.S. Navy are currently using them.

The ZX40 electric truck is among the most efficient "fleet" electric utility truck on the industry. It is perfectly capable of doing a maximum 25 miles per hour with 50-60 miles per battery charging. The ZX40S on the other hand, is designed to accelerate faster than its brother. Powered by 72-volt systems instead of 48-volts, the ZX40S has the much better range.

All of Miles product lines are built with steel chassis, impact-resistant steel frames and doors, and a DOT-approved glass system all throughout. The company also introduced the alternating current (AC) motors for most of its low-speed vehicles.

It takes pride with its use of the advanced brushless AC induction motor that functions on three phases. This special feature offers about four times of the total available power just like that of today's typical DC motors with a 100,000+ miles of estimated lifetime.

For superior hill climbing performance, the AC motors are being paired to the Curtis-Albright AC Motor Controllers. This is a great advantage considering that electric vehicles have had a history of having trouble climbing up because of a lack of power. This new technology changes all that. This AC upgrade has truly changed the landscape of the electric car industry, especially when fused with regenerating braking systems and vacuum-assisted braking pump technology.

Also, the increase of the available power in the AC motor presents other luxuries in the form of true air conditioning system options. Miles Electric Vehicles will continue to pave the way for street fleets that promote power efficiency and environment-friendly concepts all the way into the future.
